How To Trade:
The best way to offer up things to trade, or look at what other people are trading, is to go through the #selling-trading-lf threads in the official discord! People will post things they have for trade, as well as what they’re looking for. You can then either comment in these threads, or if the op is ok with it, dm them to hash out the details!
When transferring things, you can do it in two ways: a direct transfer, or a trade using the site trade feature.
There are pros and cons to each method

Direct transfers
This method is faster, since items are instantly added to the other person’s inventory, and genos only require one confirmation on the new owner’s end. However, they are also less secure and there is less record of the trade |
Trade System
This method is much more secure, and provides a receipt of the entire transaction that you can add notes to! You can also trade multiple things at once, such as a geno + items + currency all in one go! However, they require multiple confirmation steps on each person’s end, and have a limit to how many items/genos/etc. can be sent at once |
Best Practices
Nothing here is a rule, but these are good things to keep in mind when trading to make sure everything goes smoothly!
Nothing here is a rule, but these are good things to keep in mind when trading to make sure everything goes smoothly!
- Keep a record of everything you’re selling/trading for! This can be very helpful in keeping track of things people owe you, or things you owe other people! Try not to rely on thread comments alone since posts can get easily buried or lost/deleted.
- When making a post, make sure to be clear about what you are offering, and what you are looking for! Links to genos, or inventories, or specific information on what you have to offer can go a long way!
- Do not send things before payment is received! For example, waiting until an art roll is finished and delivered to you before sending a geno! And conversely, not sharing the full res/final art until a geno is sent! This is not a rule, but it's a good way to avoid being scammed!
- Avoid trading or buying outside of the game spaces! Game spaces include: the discord, website, and deviantart. Trades outside these spaces are allowed, but they are not monitored by the team, and can lead to you purchasing characters/items that are untradeable, or don’t exist!
- Use caution when buying slots! There are several factors to be careful of:
- Make sure it is a dino that is not related to the one you want to pair it with.
- Slots to unaged characters; these slots cannot be used until the character is aged. In cases where the owner is unreachable/the trade goes bad, staff can grant you the slot but in most cases cannot force age the character if no age ups were completed.
- Geno “slots”; genos do not technically have slots that can be granted, and are on a word-of-mouth agreement between you and the owner. Geno “slots” cannot be granted by staff in situations where the trade goes bad and the owner is no longer reachable, since they technically do not exist until they become imports.
- If there is ever an issue with a trade that you are unable to solve on your own, please bring it up to a mod! Things such as lost communication, payment never being received, extraordinary wait times (6+ months), or other suspicious behaviors are all good examples of things that staff may be able to help with!
Common Trading Occurrences
Slots for Age Ups
This is a common practice, and benefits both parties! Essentially, one person will offer up a slot (breeding permission) in exchange for a set of age up quests, usually for the same character the slot is for! Age Ups are quests that once approved, will grow the character. It takes 3 of these quests to reach Adult, allowing them to breed! This benefits both people since you will immediately be able to use the slot! Egg Trades
Sometimes unhatched eggs will go up for trade! Things to note here is that these eggs have the potential to hatch into anything, good or bad, so use your best judgment when offering/selling! Geno & Import Trades
Unlike Eggs, these are preexisting imports and genos people will sell! This is one of the most common kinds of post! Make sure to fully review the character, including lineage and any breeding slots, before buying! When selling, its best to note down things such as base color, markings, and if there are any existing slot agreements! |
Material Swaps
This is often when one person needs a material for a specific recipe, and is willing to trade a different material in exchange. Some people also like to collect materials for the sake of collecting! Oftentimes trades will be 1:1 since all materials are technically worth the same. Sometimes people will also trade RB (relic bones) for materials at a rate of 10-15 RB per item! Breeding Splits
This is common when someone wants to do a breeding but is missing something, either a slot, item, or a courtship image, and will trade some of the potential offspring from the clutch in exchange for the missing component! Agreements can vary greatly, but typically the person who contributes the most will get the “first pick” of the resulting breeding. Breedings are random, and there is always the potential for a breeding to result in a clutch of undesirable offspring, or only one child being produced, so keep this in mind! |
Official Price Recommendations
These are recommendations on how to price your art, genos, items, and RB. Prices can vary depending on other factors such as sentimentality, history, or personal preference - these recommendations are just a baseline and are not enforced rules!

Art Rolls (ARs):
It’s recommended to price ARs at a minimum of:
ARs can have a lot of value, especially for quests with greater reward potential! So make sure to price accordingly!
Items
Item pricing is highly subjective, but the important things to note are the source of the items. Items that can be crafted or bought in the shop should be a comparable price; so for example, a Makeover Formula sells for 60rb in the shop, so it would be recommended to buy/sell for 1 AR or $20
For items exclusive to event drops, the recommendation is $40-60 or 100-150RB or 2-3 ARs
Genos
Typically value is derived from species + marking type and rarity
So for example, a Cryolophosaurus with this geno [C / SBSB / So / Tp] would have a baseline value of $35, which compares to about 2 AR or about 87 RB
Imports
Imports are harder to price, since there can be several factors involved. Does the import have levels, breeding slots, completed age ups, art? These things, on top of the value of the attached design and sentimentality, can all factor into prices! Normally imports are valued more highly than genos - a good metric to start would be to take the value of the geno and add an additional 50%.
So for the Cryo example, the import version would be about $52, or 3 AR, or 130 rb
It’s recommended to price ARs at a minimum of:
