Adding Scars

To add scars to your dinosaur's import, you first need to buy or obtain a Small Scar Applicator or a Large Scar Applicator! In this guide we will cover what is allowed and not allowed and the limits and differences of each applicator.

General rules and limits for scars:
  • Both the Small and the Large applicators can only be added once to a dinosaur, meaning that you can have a max. of 1 of each in your import.
  • Scars must remain natural, which means they need to look like they were caused by natural means. Things that look like tattoos or aesthetic carvings are not allowed.
  • Some examples of allowed scars: scratches, bites, holes/ripped feathers, etc.
  • The color for scars can be lighter or darker, but it must remain natural as well. Hues that are slightly darker and lighter than your base color or the color they sit on top of, or natural hues of pink and grey are the only ones allowed.
  • Scars are applied to your import and you are allowed to modify the official lineart to fit them. If you remove a limb, for example, you must edit the import appropriately to portray it.
  • Scars must be at least somewhat realistic in terms of survivability.  This means you cannot remove multiple weight bearing legs, significant portions of the skull/torso/organs, ect.  You also cannot 'skin' or 'deglove' large parts of your dinosaur or use this as a work around to alter the feather shape of a dinosaur.

Small scar applicator

The small scar applicator allows you to add any amount of small scars up to covering the 15% of your dinosaur.
Any tries at going around loopholes for the rules like stacking together a lot of small scars to try and create a bigger one will not be allowed.
  • Small scars are anything that doesn't exceed the sizes in the examples below and doesn't affect your dinosaur's performance and lifestyle.
  • Things like losing a finger are considered Small scars, but anything major like a whole hand or limb are Large scars.
  • Eyes are a middle ground: you are allowed to add small scars around eyes, but if the scar affected your dinosaur's vision and they turned blind, it is considered a Large scar!

Here's some examples of allowed scars for the Small Scar Applicator:

Things done in the example: Added various scars for scratches, bite marks and holes, removed the tip of the tail and a finger, removed a few teeth from the scar in the mouth and added a thin scar around the neck that could've been caused by a fishing line or similar.

Large Scar Applicator

The Large scar applicator allows you to add 2 or 3 major scars to your dinosaur.
The large applicator also allows you to add some smaller scars around the big ones as long as they're interacting with it or are very close to it, thus being caused by the same source. Any other "floating" small scars that are not interacting with the large ones would require a Small scar applicator and not be allowed for the Large one.
  • Large scars can be a maximum size of 40% of a dinosaur. The bigger the scar, the less of others you can add. Meaning that if you add 1 very large scar, your other large scars need to be decently smaller so in total they don't sum up more than 40%, but you can just choose to add 1 very large one.
  • When removing limbs, you can remove a maximum of 2 (tail included) as long as the second one removed is not a weight-bearing limb (meaning in a quadruped dinosaur you can't remove both front legs, for example, but you can remove both arms on a biped dino).

Here's some examples of allowed scars for the Large Scar Applicator:

Things done in the example: Added a large scar in the back and a scar around the eye that has turned the dinosaur blind.

Things done in the example: Removed both one leg and a major part of the tail. The tail scar also presents allowed smaller scars around it caused by the same injury.
